Friends of Morningside Park is proud to partner with the Columbus Amsterdam BID, Uptown Film Center, and the West 111th Street Block Association to present a free outdoor screening of the Academy Award-winning documentary Summer of Soul, directed by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson.
Celebrating the music, culture, and legacy of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, Summer of Soul brings to life a remarkable chapter of Harlem's history through unforgettable performances and powerful storytelling.
Before the movie begins, arrive early for a free Lindy Hop dance lesson led by Josie Say from 7:15–8:00 p.m. No dance experience is necessary, everyone is welcome!
Bring a picnic, blankets, and lawn chairs, then settle in for an evening of music, community, and film in one of Harlem's most beautiful public spaces.
