Petition to Fix the Morningside Park Waterfall and Pond.

The Morningside Park Waterfall has not worked in years and the Morningside Park Pond seems to be plagued with Harmful Algal Blooms (HABS) more frequently than ever. Morningside Pond was reported as a HAB site as recently as May 24, 2023.

There is now a community petition calling on the New York City Department of Parks to clean up the pond and fix the waterfall. The petition was launched online on June 10 and already has over 550 signatures.

Local residents have posted videos and pictures such as the one below of the geese and their new goslings having to swim in the the murky green water.

Here's a photo of the pond turtles in the muck.
